What is a typical day like at Urban Science?
Team-based, project-oriented and results-driven. A typical day for an Urban Scientist depends on the teams they work with, which range from software development to information technology to client management. Our common mission is to make our clients’ businesses work better, and we have an intense focus on innovation to provide solutions for our clients’ challenges.
What is your favorite thing about your company?
Our work matters. We solve mission-critical problems that have high value for our clients. We don’t do everything, but the things we choose to do, we are the best in the world.

How did you get into this field?
I have a passion for using science to solve complex business problems. Throughout my 20+ years of experience I’ve been able to understand complexity and make it simple.
How has technology changed or affected your business?
Technology has allowed us to provide simple, yet sophisticated decision making tools to end-users anywhere in the world. With the democratization of technology, we can take complex systems and bring them to our clients to allow them to make better, faster business decisions.
Where do you see your company in five years?
A lot of companies project rapid growth – we’ve delivered very rapid growth throughout our history, and we will continue that growth because of the quality of our people and our products. The proliferation of data and the advances we are making in applying science to marketing and sales creates a world of opportunity for us.
What characteristics do you look for in job seekers when hiring?
Highly motivated people with engineering and math backgrounds combined with strong interpersonal skills. An Urban Scientist is a person who is committed to making a difference.
